The 6,700-hectare Sarobetsu Marsh is located on the Sea of Japan side of northern Hokkaido (Toyotomi-cho and Horonobe-cho) and is one of the three largest marshlands in Japan, covering an area larger than the inside of the JR Yamanote Line. It is the largest high-rise marshland in Japan with a particularly well-developed moss, and has been designated as Rishiri Rebun Sarobetsu National Park.
The Sarobetsu Marsh Center, an information facility at the entrance to the marshland. Visitors can learn about the history of the marsh and natural information through photo panels and videos. A 1km-long, barrier-free wooden path around the marshland allows visitors to enjoy the majestic nature of Sarobetsu.
